Update With Video! Lindsay Lohan Doesn’t Love the White Powder

Lindsay, you probably shouldn’t wear fur because it will cause a whole lot of white powder to be dumped upon you, and it’s not the kind of white powder that you can snort and that makes you want to hump a doorknob. I mean, that’s what I’ve heard happens.

PETA released a statement about the incident, and it looks like an angry anti-fur activist yelled “Lindsay Lohan – fur hag!” and dumped an entire bag of flour on Lindsay’s head as she made her way into the VIP Room on the Champs-Elysees around 1am on Saturday!

Anyway, check these pics out over at X17 online and now with video!

Honey, I’m “Virtually” Screwing Someone Else

Wow, this is a different scenario than you hear about on a regular basis. Apparently, a woman caught her husband having sex with an avatar, which is an image used to represent another person in an online world. It screams funny to me, which it shouldn’t, but it’s called “Second Life” but to me it sounds like it should be called, “Get a Life”. No judgement, no judgement, I apologize. Anyway, here’s the story:

A British couple who married in a lavish Second Life wedding ceremony are to divorce after one of them had an alleged “affair” in the online world.

second-lifeSecond Life users can interact and form relationships with other players’ avatars.

Amy Taylor, 28, said she had caught husband David Pollard, 40, having sex with an animated woman. The couple, who met in an Internet chatroom in 2003, are now separated.

“I went mad — I was so hurt. I just couldn’t believe what he’d done,” Taylor told the Western Morning News. “It may have started online, but it existed entirely in the real world and it hurts just as much now it is over.”

Second Life allows users to create alter egos known as “avatars” and interact with other players, forming relationships, holding down jobs and trading products and services for a virtual currency convertible into real life dollars.

Taylor said she had caught Pollard’s avatar having sex with a virtual prostitute: “I looked at the computer screen and could see his character having sex with a female character. It’s cheating as far as I’m concerned.”

Here’s the original article.

“Quantum of Solace” Scores Big

James Bond lured moviegoers en masse Friday as Sony-MGM’s “Quantum of Solace” set an opening day record for the 007 franchise with a boffo $27 million.

Given the pic’s first day haul from 3,451 engagements and its hefty $7,824 per theater, there’s no question that “Quantum” will outstrip Bond’s top two weekend bows, 2002’s “Die Another Day” ($47.1 million) and 2006’s “Casino Royale” ($40.8 million).

According to Rentrak Theatrical, “Die” owned the previous first day record for a Bond pic at $16.6 million with “Casino Royale” following in second with $14.7 million.

Directed by Marc Forster, “Quantum” marks the first action tentpole for the Blightly helmer whose resume has consisted of critically acclaimed award-driven fare such as 2004’s period drama “Finding Neverland” and 2001’s “Monster’s Ball.” (source)

Prop 8 – Not So Easily Said By Ashton; Valid Nonetheless

Ashton stumbles over his words a bit, but joins in a discussion about the spiritual and political parameters involved with Prop 8.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

If given a platform to vent…    I’d identify that if given the opportunity, the bulk population of American Christians would vote with the same spitefullness against recognizing the Mormon Church as really being a Christian religion as they presumably would to pass Prop 8.

So, why the battle cry from the LDS???

If you’re a member of the LDS, how would you feel if a political decision denied the validity of something that you’re passionate about?  Just a thought…

Sirius & XM Merged – What’s In It For You?

What’s In It For You?  Not much!

Glad to know I wasn’t the only one blindsided by all the trickery that went down this week with the covert XM collapse to the Sirius channel line-up.  Until now, I was dippin’-n-sippin’ from both satellite radio providers with anticipation of what the merger would bring.  At one time they said that customers would build their own programming bundles with an assortment of channels that matched their individual interests.  That sounded like a creative and flexible value add, hence my anticipation.

So far, I’m not impressed.  On my Sirius account, I now have access to 8 more music channels and none of which are related to any genre I’m concerned with.  (See the new Sirius lineup)

My XM relationship feeds through digital cable, and now I essentially have Sirius being pumped into my house.  For true XM’ers, they have 13 new channels while a whole bulk of their other programming got the axe.  (See the new XM lineup)

Now interestingly enough, Sirius is having a tough time staying profitable and just announced a loss of $5 billion.  Can I write my Congressman and express my opinion that if anyone needs a bailout then it is certainly the satellite radio industry company?

New Chevy Volt!

There’s an L.A. 2008 Auto Show coming up and the L.A. Times has some advanced pics of some of the cars featured. What caught my eye (of course, it’s a hybrid of sorts) is the Chevy Volt. Have a look and read the description down below.

2011 Chevrolet Volt

Overview: General Motors will be eschewing the glitz and glitter this year, and Chevrolet’s eggs all seem to be in this particular plug-in hybrid basket. This is the production version of the Volt (due some time in 2010), with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine and an array of lithium-ion batteries. For the technical pedants, it’s not strictly a hybrid because the engine only helps to charge the batteries and doesn’t send any power directly to the wheels.

Watch this as Joy Behar takes the helm of Larry King Live and interviews Cynthia Nixon from Sex and the City, who is currently in a same-sex relationship. She makes some excellent points and delivers a voice of hope and reason to this increasingly difficult and polarizing situation.

Madonna is ‘Miles Away’

From Madonnalicious:

Madonna’s Miles Away remixes were leaked online this week and are being illegally downloaded and shared. In an attempt to curtail the activity, Warner Music has made the unprecedented move to exclusively offer the leaked remixes to the online dance music retailer, Masterbeat.com.

Warner chose to partner with Masterbeat because the niche retailer was able to make the remixes for sale immediately, as opposed to retail giants, who require weeks to offer items for sale. You can also try before you buy, so head on over there.

Check out the online store at www.masterbeat.com/release/milesaway.

Anger Towards Mormon Church Justified?

I think we can all agree that it’s nothing against the religion itself in the frustration people are feeling towards the Mormon Church with regards to their deliberate attempt at passing Prop 8, basically taking away an equal right for gays to marry. Having said that, it’s pretty disturbing to hear about the lengths they took to ensure that it would pass. I can’t really recall a time where that much time, that much organization, and that much money was thrown into a civil rights issue. Have a look at this article from the NY Times.

frank-schubert1Less than two weeks before Election Day, the chief strategist behind a ballot measure outlawing same-sex marriage in California called an emergency meeting here.

Frank Schubert was the chief strategist for Proposition 8, which defines marriage as between a man and a woman in California.

“We’re going to lose this campaign if we don’t get more money,” the strategist, Frank Schubert, recalled telling leaders of Protect Marriage, the main group behind the ban.

The campaign issued an urgent appeal, and in a matter of days, it raised more than $5 million, including a $1 million donation from Alan C. Ashton, the grandson of a former president of the Mormon Church. The money allowed the drive to intensify a sharp-elbowed advertising campaign, and support for the measure was catapulted ahead; it ultimately won with 52 percent of the vote.

As proponents of same-sex marriage across the country planned protests on Saturday against the ban, interviews with the main forces behind the ballot measure showed how close its backers believe it came to defeat — and the extraordinary role Mormons played in helping to pass it with money, institutional support and dedicated volunteers.

“We’ve spoken out on other issues, we’ve spoken out on abortion, we’ve spoken out on those other kinds of things,” said Michael R. Otterson, the managing director of public affairs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as the Mormons are formally called, in Salt Lake City. “But we don’t get involved to the degree we did on this.”

Jeff Flint, another strategist with Protect Marriage, estimated that Mormons made up 80 percent to 90 percent of the early volunteers who walked door-to-door in election precincts. Continue reading

Fall Into The Gap – 2008 Holiday Ads

The annual Gap print ads are ready, and they’re good!  I’m sure once their commercials start and I can’t get away from that ‘Best Time of the Year’ propaganda then I’ll once again flip flop and change my opinion some.

Additionally, their website is primed and ready to go! Lot’s of artists and actors goofing around:  Romany Malco, Jason Biggs, Janelle Monae (my boo!), Flo-Rida, Sandra Bernhard, Selma Blair, and many others…

Anyhow, here’s a look at what to expect this year (arranged in order of my personal preference)!

There’s More….
