Adam Lambert Likes “The Top” & Snaps Back At Clay Aiken

The top bunk, wink wink. Hysterical though! If the video isn’t appearing, argh, then click here to see it. And check out this little quote from Adam, whom I think is fantastic, about Clay Aiken:

“I don’t know Clay,” Lambert told Access Hollywood Thursday. “I’m glad he’s getting headlines now though, because he wasn’t before.” “If he wants to ride my coattails about it, good for him,” Lambert said before giving Aiken a thumbs-up sign. SNAP!

Northwest Puppy Mill Seized – WTF People!

WTF, this totally pisses me off – how can we help, what can we do to stop this? Start by going here and signing this pledge.

From the AP: More than 400 dogs, including three newborn puppies, have been removed from a puppy mill that is being called “one of the worst cases” of animal abuse seen by animal groups and state officials.

“The conditions were not only shocking, but also heartbreaking to veteran deputies,” said Benton County Sheriff Larry Taylor, who led the raid Wednesday at the Sun Valley kennel of 66-year-old Ella Stewart.

Dogs were found living in wooden crates, shopping carts and other makeshift kennels caked with feces and soaked with urine, investigators said. Detectives wore gloves and put booties on their shoes before walking onto the 2-acre property.

All the dogs will need medical care and some will require extensive treatment, Taylor said. Some dogs suffered from malnutrition while others had urine burns and overgrown nails.

Daily Tune-Up: Empathize With You

tuneupdailyThursday, May 28

How do you know if you are listening to your ego or to your soul?

When you are listening to your ego, you’re thinking only of yourself. When you are listening to your soul, you’re putting someone else into the equation.

Today, notice how difficult it is NOT to think only of yourself. And remember that the source of our joy comes from erasing ourselves and empathizing with others.

Apple, You Might Have Real Competion

More and more is coming about the Palm Pre and yes, Apple might be showing up with a new iPhone but in the meantime, the Pre could really be a competitor. Once you add the “App Store” type functionality AND then make it compatible with iTunes, you’ve closed a major gap right there. Here’s some information I stumbled across on CNET:

CARLSBAD, Calif.–In one of the more anticipated chats at D: All Things Digital, Palm Executive Chairman Jon Rubinstein showed off the Palm Pre and talked about several features of the smartphone for the first time.

Rubinstein showed how the device can search Amazon’s MP3 store and download songs directly to the device, a feature mentioned at the Pre’s unveiling at CES in January. The Pre is scheduled to go on sale June 6 with a price tag of $199.99, after rebate.

He also showed a “media sync” feature that lets users grab nonprotected media files directly from iTunes without any special software. In addition, the universal search feature will not only search Google and Wikipedia, but also Twitter.

Shirtless Robert Pattinson – Hell Yeah!

I’ve made mention of him before, I watched Twilight expecting the movie to basically suck because of all of the horrible reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how hypnotic he was, the big question mark I had about his “hotness” was washed away by his brooding sexiness on the screen.

Well, now you get to see a little bit more of him – and he looks good! I’m curious though, does he have Mariah’s (body) make-up artist for this scene?

Lady Gaga – Is She The New Madonna?

In my opinion, no! However, I would say that Lady Gaga is an interesting pop artist. She can sing, she has vision, she has courage, and she has style. Is she closer to Madonna than say, Britney Spears? Um, hell to the yes!

My thoughts on her are a bit forever tainted by my first experience seeing her live – I rarely hold a grudge, but I guess I find her music to be mediocre and not nearly living up to her “artistic vision” that she sees for herself. Having said that, the label might have her by the balls on this first major release, so I might be curious about the next one now that she’s proven herself and bankable artist on the roster.

In the meantime, check out this interesting article on her – it’s pretty interesting.

A Note From PETA

For years, PETA’s investigators have been uncovering the disease-ridden conditions on factory farms. We’ve exposed stressed animals crammed by the thousands into filthy sheds, a perfect breeding ground for new strains of dangerous bacteria and viruses.

Factory farms are not just a major public health threat—they are also the single greatest source of animal suffering in the world. Thanks to the brave work of PETA’s undercover investigators, more people than ever are saying “No!” to the inherent cruelty of factory farming.

But PETA is only able to conduct these investigations because of caring people like you who help fund this vital work. Today, I hope that you will help provide the resources that we need to sustain our investigations.

PETA’s staff members take huge risks to get inside these filthy and often dangerous places, and they leave with irrefutable evidence of animal abuse. Our investigators have been threatened, chased, and even assaulted. As hard as the physical and emotional toll is on them, they know it’s nothing compared to what animals endure. Make no mistake: Once we go public with a PETA undercover investigation, we get results, as we did in the following cases:

At Aviagen factory farms in West Virginia, PETA investigators uncovered workers stomping, kicking, and killing turkeys in unimaginably cruel ways. In a precedent-setting move, a grand jury has since issued 19 indictments—11 of them on felony charges—against three former employees of Aviagen Turkeys for cruelty to animals. This marks the first time in U.S. history that factory-farm employees have faced felony cruelty-to-animals charges for abusing birds, and the indictments come as a direct result of our investigation.

At a pig factory farm that supplies piglets who are raised and killed for Hormel products, our investigator witnessed a supervisor shoving a cane into a sow’s vagina, multiple pigs who were beaten with metal gate rods, and many other abuses. As a result of our investigation, an Iowa sheriff filed 22 charges of livestock neglect and abuse against six former employees of the factory farm. One of Hormel’s own executives has referred to PETA’s investigation as “an industry-changing event.”

At AgriProcessors, the world’s largest kosher slaughterhouse, a PETA investigation documented workers sawing gaping cuts in the necks of living, breathing cows. As a result of the cruelty we exposed at the Postville, Iowa, slaughterhouse, AgriProcessors was caught violating the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act and has since been forced into bankruptcy!

By exposing these hideous acts, we are changing consumer behavior, rewriting corporate policies, receiving justice from the courts, and reducing the suffering in countless animals’ lives!

Undercover investigations are one of the cornerstones of PETA’s work to protect animals—they are a proven and powerful tool in reducing suffering. And no one else can do them as well as PETA can. But please remember that our investigators can’t work without your support. Your generous gift to PETA today can help us stop animal suffering on factory farms and in slaughterhouses around the world.

Thank you for answering the call of animals.

Very truly yours,

Ingrid Newkirk
Ingrid E. Newkirk

P.S. Many of the precedent-setting victories that PETA has won in our factory-farming campaigns—including reforms from industry giants like Safeway and Smithfield Foods—began with our investigative team’s work to uncover the misery hidden behind the doors of factory farms and slaughterhouses. With your support, we can fundamentally change how both companies and consumers treat animals.

Man vs. Coffee Pot, Round 100

A friend on Facebook has a rocky relationship with his coffee pot, as evidenced by his quote this morning – I love it.

Coffee pot crazy“This coffee pot and I have a long history of hard times.  Not only does it occassionally overflow and try to kill me….but once…it tricked me into brewing ONLY HOT WATER…and forced me to FORGET to put the coffee grounds in.  Let’s just say…..that pot and I are NOT the best of friends.  We eye each other suspiciously each morning before one of us makes a move.  Today the pot won.”

Time for a new coffee pot perhaps?
